Here is where you will create your character. In the campaign you will be recruited by the New Republic, so your character should have a good reason to be loyal to the Rebel Alliance of the original Star Wars trilogy but not yet a soldier of the New Republic military. Your character should also have a skill set that would make them a valuable addition to a covert operations team. Beyond that, feel free to create a character from any corner of the Star Wars universe - from a planet/species/faction we've seen before, or a brand new one!

Complete and post your character sheet below. While an image of your character is not essential, if you want to create one you may find one of the following avatar creators useful:

http://www.rinmarugames.com/playgame.php?game_link=star-wars-avatar-creator

https://www.azaleasdolls.com/dressupgames/scifi-warrior.php - For female characters

https://www.azaleasdolls.com/dressupgames/scifi-warrior-male.php - For male characters

The character sheet to fill out is below:

Character Creation Empty Re: Character Creation

Post by Kyden Nhulsoon Sat Jan 18, 2020 12:40 am

Name: Kyden Nhulsoon

Age: 40

Gender: Male

Species: Human

Homeworld: Batuu

Allegiance: Acolytes of the Whills - Jedi sect

Physical description and attire: 5'10", dark brown hair and beard flecked with grey, steely grey eyes. Kyden does not wear traditional Jedi robes - the Acolytes of the Whills never adhered strictly to Jedi tradition and Kyden came into adulthood during the age of the Empire, when it was unwise to be seen looking like a Jedi. He wears a long dusty cloak; heavy duty boots, baggy leggings covered in pockets and straps for carrying scavenged items - popular with the Gatherers on Batuu, a simple grey tunic beneath a heavy brown surcoat made from thick hide, a hefty metal and leather belt, and brown leather wrist straps. Beneath his tunic, Kyden also wears a string necklace adorned with ancient runic Jedi charms.

Equipment/weapons: Kyden carries a heavy staff of Brylark wood. Runic symbols are carved into its surface and it is crowned with a round metal cap, embedded at its top and adorned with similar symbols.

Strengths: Kyden is strong in the Force, having dedicated every day of his life to understanding and becoming one with its power. Through his constant connection to and awareness of the cosmic Force, as well as a lifetime of Jedi teachings and meditation, Kyden is calm and clear-headed under pressure. He is slow to anger and always willing to find a rational solution to any problem. Growing up amongst the cutthroats, traders and thieves of Batuu, he has developed a sharp wit and keen mind but never lost his deep compassion for all life.

Weaknesses: Kyden’s devotion to the Acolytes of the Whills’ teaching that “there is no self, only the Force” can leave him somewhat distant and emotionally closed off. It is not that he adheres to the old Jedi Order’s mantra of freedom from passion and emotion, but that he often struggles to connect on an individual level, viewing all life as simply one piece of a greater whole in the Force. This can also make him a reluctant combatant – the Acolytes believe their quest is one for harmony between all living beings, preventing and relieving conflict rather than charging headfirst into it. Unlike the Jedi Order, the Acolytes did not believe it was their place to use or control the Force, only to be guided by it. This can also make Kyden unpredictable and unwilling to listen to any plan that contradicts his instincts.

Character overview: It was Kyden’s parents who first moved to Batuu. His mother had been a Jedi who frequently found herself at odds with the Council’s teachings and ideas. This came to a head when she met and fell in love with Kyden’s father. Finally turning her back on the Order, she and her new husband set up a home on the world at the galaxy’s edge where she studied the ancient teachings of the Acolytes of the Whills – teachings she would soon pass on to her son.

Kyden studied and explored the Force alongside both his parents (though his father’s connection to the Force was less pronounced and more academic). While he learnt the ways of the ancient Jedi sect, he split his time between Batuu’s wild forests and characterful settlements, seeking both a greater connection to the natural world and an affinity with the people and cultures around him. Growing up on Batuu meant this culture was largely one of camaraderie before the law and honour among thieves, instilling Kyden with a sharp mind and an anarchistic moral compass.

Kyden’s parents were killed in the early days of the Empire, during the Jedi Purge. His mother was targeted by Stormtroopers, while Kyden’s father was killed fighting alongside her – they both failed to save each other, but succeeded in protecting their son. His parents’ deaths and the later destruction of his ancestors’ home of Alderaan left Kyden heartbroken and hardened his resolve to achieve full mastery of the Jedi arts. He became more of a recluse, withdrawing into hiding to continue Jedi practices in safety and spending time travelling the galaxy to aid his studies. During this time, he abandoned his lightsaber - he knew it would only make him a target and in surrendering it he vowed to choose a path of peace over the pain of war. After the deaths of Darth Vader and Darth Sidious, Kyden returned home to Batuu, wearier but with a renewed sense of optimism and hope. There it was his intention to live out the rest of his days in peace…

Character Creation Empty Re: Character Creation

Post by Marius Hallux Sun Jan 26, 2020 6:54 pm

Name: Marius Hallux

Age: 47

Gender: Male

Species: Human

Homeworld: Bestine IV

Allegiance: The New Republic

Character Creation Star_w10

Physical description and attire: 5' 11", short brown hair and a neatly kept full beard, the signs of age showing in the greying patches on his cheeks and sideburns. His eyes look tired, their once vibrant blue slightly fading, with crows feet creeping around the edges. A scar extends across his cheek, noticeable but not deep. Despite appearances he has quite a warm demeanour, cautious but inviting. Under a lightweight blue cape, a symbol of his homeworld, Marius wears a smart but practical white tunic adorned with the symbol of the New Republic alongside brown pocketed trousers and leather high boots, a remanent of his days in the Rebellion. Strapped to his brown leather belt are numerous pouches as well as a holster for a blaster pistol. Around his wrists Marius wears a set of plastoid vambraces, similarly in brown, looted from old Imperial Stormtrooper armour.

Equipment/weapons: Marius carries a DL-44 heavy blaster pistol, a mainstay with many ex-rebellion personnel, for ranged engagements as well as a ceremonial vibroblade in a sheathe on the back of his belt that can be used in combat.

Strengths: Marius is a keen leader, seasoned guerilla fighter and shrewd diplomat. Having served in the Bestine planetary security force during the Clone Wars and as an operative for the Rebellion Marius has extensive combat experience, training and is a proven leader. He has also represented Bestine within the Imperial Senate in the early days of the Empire, a decision born out of frustration with the Empire's rule of his homeworld. It is through this, and his eventual connections with Rebel supporters within the senate, that the spark of rebellion was ignited within Marius, leaving him with a firm loyalty to the original ideals of the Alliance. His time in the senate changed from merely representing Bestine to actively aiding the growing Rebellion, albeit in secret, conducting recon, ferrying refugees and smuggling vital supplies under his cover as a senator. Marius was eventually approached by a large Rebel cell and inducted into the Rebel Alliance in full, using his military experience to lead guerilla attacks on Imperial operations throughout the galaxy. He is also an experienced ship captain, having commanded the Corellian CR90 Corvette Justiciar for the Rebellion until it's destruction at Jakku in 5ABY.

Weaknesses: While his loyalty to the Alliance was unquestioning his faith in the New Republic is rocky at best. Disagreeing with many of Mon Mothma's decisions following the end of the Galactic Civil War, Marius is disillusioned with the New Republic's leadership even in such an early stage. He is an outspoken believer that the ex-Imperials have gotten off lightly, having called for more serious imprisonment and punishment. This and his deep hatred for Imperials has given him a laser focus to personally punish all Imperial remnants, making him a target and quite irrational around Imperial sympathisers. His outspoken nature regarding this has given him a reputation as a trouble maker, extremist and general distrust from the New Republic military. His reputation precedes him, having been a notable figure within the Rebellion and Galactic Senate for many years, making it almost impossible for him to remain unnoticed, for better or worse. He is also partial to smoking cigarra's. These give off a distinct smell and make him further recognisable due to this rather unusual habit.

Character overview: Born to the relatively unknown planet of Bestine IV Marius' early life was full of manual labour and poverty. His family were fishermen, one of the most common livelihoods for a Bestine family. He attests that they are 'nobodies' and 'wasters', having split from them early into the Empire's rule as his political views became more opposed to both the Empire and his family's.

As soon as he could he joined the Bestine Planetary Security Force, forging a life for himself away from the small islands of fishermen and floating shipyards for a better life. A year later, the Clone Wars began. For a force that was used to dealing with pirates and nerf rustlers the shock of now having to contend with an enemy on a galactic scale shook the PSF. With little resources and experience they were tasked with defending Bestine IV's newly requisitioned shipyards for the Republic.

Marius continued to serve with the PSF throughout the Clone Wars, taking part in minor skirmishes and assisting Master Kit Fisto's efforts in surrounding sectors. Through his career he climbed the ranks, earning a reputation as a strong, cunning leader. Following the creation of the Galactic Empire he continued service for a number of years, witnessing the Empire's occupation of Bestine in the process. This eventual change lead Marius to quit the Bestine PSF and pursue a career in politics, seeing no way of combatting the Empire's rule by force, choosing words over a blaster. He quickly gained support in the local government, due in no small part to the connections he'd made whilst in the PSF.

His political career, while easy to gain a foothold in thanks to the local support and Bestine's relatively simple governmental system, was beset by disappointment and frustration. At the time Marius knew any physical resistance would be useless against an enemy such as the Empire and this political avenue allowed him to gain contacts within the disgruntled senators, eventually joining the Rebel Alliance as an operative within the senate.

As the Galactic Civil War commenced in full Marius transitioned away from simple 'illegal' operations against the Empire and politic squabbling in the senate to lead Alliance troopers against the Empire in more open conflict. In 3BBY Marius left the senate entirely, abandoning the ideals of reasonable diplomacy employed by Mon Mothma and taking the fight to the Empire on the field.

His first act was to lead a rebel cell on Bestine IV against the occupying Imperials who had taken the citizens lands to fuel their war efforts. As the Empire persistently thwarted the cell's attempts to sabotage the shipyards on the planet, he carried out some successful skirmishes on local garrisons but was forced to retreat from the planet when the Empire destroyed the orbital station over Bestine in a show of force. From there Marius joined up with the main Rebel fleet, reluctantly under the command of Mon Monthma, a figure he regularly butted heads with in the past.

Taking part in many minor missions throughout the Galactic Civil War, Marius distinguished himself as a brave and cunning leader, moving on to command the Correllian CR90 Corvette, the 'Justiciar', in 2ABY. This command followed until the destruction of the ship in the Battle of Jakku where it crash landed to the planet beyond repair.

As the Galactic Civil War ended and the New Republic was forged Marius was one of the many ex-Alliance leadership to hang up their blaster and rejoin the Galactic Senate. With that He thought the political quagmire and red tape of the late Galactic Republic and Empire were gone with them.

In one of her first acts as post-war Chancellor, Mon Mothma's pardoning of the majority of ex-Imperials and the planned disarmament of the New Republic's fleets felt like a betrayal and that this new pacifist approach was not only naive but a danger to the galaxy at large.

Shortly after, Marius received a transmission from Leia Organa confirming these fears, at least in Marius' mind. He has set out with a renewed vigour.

Surely the Princess will listen to reason...

Character Creation Empty Re: Character Creation

Post by Therros Alric Mon Jan 27, 2020 3:34 am

Character Creation Scifi-10

Name: Therros  Alric

Age: 50  ( Born 44 BBY)

Gender: Male

Species: Human

Homeworld: Corellia

Allegiance: Formerly; Jedi Temple, Corellian Volunteer Fleet, Alliance to Restore the Republic.

Physical description and attire: Average height, dark blonde hair that’s short and somewhat messy and shot with grey, with thick stubble covering the cheeks. Missing his left eye, he has a cybernetic implant to compensate. His right arm ends at the elbow, having yet another cybernetic prosthetic in its place. The prosthetic has a simple black metal cover, with a single yellow line going from the middle knuckle to the edge of the prosthetic at the elbow.

Equipment/weapons: His standard clothing consists of a light orange naval tunic: a tribute to the uniforms of the Corellian Volunteer Fleet. On it’s left shoulder it has both the symbol of the Old Republic and the Jedi Order on full display. He also has a dark blue leather jacket, made from bantha hide, in a style common to smugglers and ne'er-do-wells in the Outer Rim. While the jacket is well-worn, one can still make out delicate floral patterns on the shoulders and cuffs. His trousers are usually fairly baggy and comfortable and have been described, somewhat demeaningly, as “loungers”. However, they all bear the distinctive yellow piping of the Corellian Bloodstripe, 2nd class, on their sides. Soft, comfortable leather boots are his footwear of choice.

His sidearm of choice is an ELG-3B blaster pistol. A slightly less ornate model than those used in the Royal Palace of Theed, but it still packs an impressive punch relative to its weight. Therros also has a Clone Wars-vintage DC17 blaster rifle, normally found only in the hands of Clone Commandos. A lightweight but solid polymer collapsible baton completes his arsenal, being roughly the same length as  a lightsabre when fully extended.

Therros has been Captain of a Sphyrna-class corvette since the beginning of the Clone Wars. First named Osprey Dawn, Therros re-christened it as the Tyrannicde after it single-handedly destroyed a Lucrehulk Class CIS battleship. The initial volunteer crew were all killed by a toxic gas bomb hidden on the ship during repairs, leading to Therros receiving a compliment of Clones to man the ship. By the end of the Clone Wars, the Tyrannicide had been giving numerous upgrades by its crew, making it much more heavily armed and armoured than other ships of its class. At the Wars end, the Clone crew were sent elsewhere while Therros retained command, as a volunteer, but many of the more militaristic upgrades were removed. The Tyrannicide was subject to yet another name change at the behest of an Imperial Moff who considered the name to be too Rebellious in nature and dubbed it the Unwavering Loyalty. For three years after the Clone Wars, Therros hired skeleton crews to help man the ship, but none of them stayed for long, except for a Wookie pair: Uralaaf the hyperdrive engineer and Tirdila the Droid expert, both of whom formed a strong friendship with Therros. A chance discovery of an abandoned CIS transport ship and the de-activated shells of hundreds of B1 Battle Droids gave the Unwavering Loyalty a brand new crew. Re-programmed for more indepence, the personalities of the B1 droid crew were stored on a central computer so that if their shell was destroyed they could be simply allocated a new one. The droids performed their roles well, mainly thanks to Tirdila’s re-jigging, although their existence led to many raised eyebrows amongst officials. When Therros joined the Rebellion, he joyfully returned the ship to her most famous name of Tryannicide. She was present at the Battle of Endor and Jakku, as well as numerous small skirmishes. She remains the personal ship of Therros to this day, albeit somewhat less heavily armed than she was in Rebel Service, but still with the same quirky droid & Wookie crewmembers.

Strengths: Therros is Force sensitive, and although he never finished he Jedi training he is still able to manipulate the Force to his advantage, such as moving small items. The meditative techniques and focus of calmness give Therros a great tranquillity, even in the midst of battle. He shows no fear and is resolute in his decisions. He is willing and able to listen to advice and criticism. As demonstrated in his service record, Therros has no qualms about facing a challenge head on, even if it would be far above his ability to succeed.

Therros is an able ship’s captain, especially when it comes to combat. He has a knack for spotting weak points in opposing ships shields, hulls or fields of fire and exploiting that to his advantage. He is also a skilled proponent of the ancient tactic of Shock Jumps, wherein one uses extremely short and risky hyperspace jumps to rapidly close the distance between ships, often to the surprise of the opponent. He uses this to get within the minimum range of larger cannons, as well as to throw off his opponent’s longer-ranged strategies. His most famous tactic, though, is of simply ramming enemy ships, especially ones much larger than the Tyrannicide. It is surprisingly effective, as a heavily-armoured mass of metal moving rapidly can do a lot of damage, especially against as most ships armour is designed to withstand blaster fire rather than kinetic objects.

Therros is well versed in the cramped conditions of ship-borne combat, having fought in and against numerous boarding parties during his life. A decent shot at close range and with quick reaction times, he can be quite a threat in close quarters. His Jedi training also means he’s adept with lightsabre-like melee weapons, being trained primarily in Form I.

Weaknesses: His long experiences in war have left him somewhat traumatised and distant. He is slow to truly trust people and to make friendships. While normally calm and collected, the issue of Slavery is one of his few weak points: his great hatred of the institution can sometimes push him to rash action. Therros can get overconfident at the helm of a ship, often pushing them past their limits and causing serious damage in the pursuit of victory and losing sight of the main objective.

In more open combat than that of a ships interior, Therros is nothing exceptional. His marksmanship leaves something to be desired at longer ranges, as does his ability to blend in with his surroundings.

Despite having lightsabre training, Therros refuses to ever use them again since he left the Order. Even with his training, if he were to face a true practitioner of lightsabre combat, he would be in trouble. His own estimate is that he’d only have a ~30% chance of victory against a traditional Jedi Knight, and that's more due to his years of experience than skill with the sabre or connection to the force. His force-sensitivity is also a vulnerability as he is quite empathic, leaving him open to feeling the emotions of others.

Character overview - personality and brief backstory: (OOC: Ok I don’t have time rn to fill this out, but I’ll get to it soon. To sum it up, Therros comes from minor Corellian nobility. He was trained to become a Jedi, but an accident in training took his left arm and all of his confidence in his own abilities, so he voluntarily left the order just before the Battle of Geonosis. During the war he got command of a ship by being in the right place at the right time, but proved his worth in many battles. Nothing pivotal, of course, but still enough to get him a bit of a reputation as the “FLY ME CLOSER, I WANT TO HIT THEM WITH MY SHIP!” guy. He lost the first crew and only survived by sheer luck, and he didn’t bond with the new clone crew as well. However, working with clones pushed him onto the path of being a major proponent of total galactic emancipation. At wars end, he was not killed during Order 66 for some reason (he doesn’t know but guesses that it’s because he was never a full jedi) and then pressed into Imperial service for a few years as a deniable and expendable asset. He is not proud of that time, but was basically in severe shock over having everything he’d fought for in the war vanish. After the Empire released him from service, he ended up in the Outer Rim, working for crime syndicates as a freelance high-security courier, earning a reputation for trustworthiness and honesty. He found the aforementioned Battledroids and set them up as his new crew, and they soon gained distinct personalities. They refer to him not as Captain but as R3 or “Roger-Roger-Roger” as a mark of respect. Through his underworld contacts he joined the Rebellion shortly after their defeat at Hoth and was often used for more explosive commando raids. After the defeat of the Empire, Therros unsuccessfully ran for the New Senate on an emancipation platform. Since his defeat, he’s returned to acting as a courier, although now legally and for much higher-class clientele, transporting valuable goods and people across the Galaxy in relative style and comfort and incredible security.

I’ll write it up better when it’s not late at night ofc.)

Character Creation Empty Re: Character Creation

Post by Drakari Ashoun Mon Jan 27, 2020 6:57 pm

Name: Drakari Ashoun prefers to be called by her nickname "Ash"

Age: 93

Gender: Female

Species: Yaephra

Homeworld: Denyali

Allegiance: To no one

Physical Description and Attire: 5' 9", Ash has the natural markings of the Yaephra, all of this species are born with light blue skin with darker blue markings on their shoulders, thighs are under their eyes. Her eyes are violet and the only hair she has comes from the crown of her head and it secured into a ponytail. Her clothes are mismatched as there are stolen from various flea markets from different planets over the years. Her leggings are made from a rough animal hide, her tunic is made from some scratchy wool material that was given to her by a kind stranger on Dagobah. Also her forearm guards are brown leather, hiding her slave brand that was burned into her wrist as a child. There are also two visible scars on Ash's body; one coming downward across her right eye and the other a slash from over her left shoulder and down her torso. Lastly, Ash wears a black belt over her tunic for attaching any needed weapons.

Equipment/Weapons: Ash always carries her staff with her. The middle section is covered with cloth from her home planet Denyali. There is also a secret compartment somewhere on the staff, but Ash refuses to access it for fear that what she is hiding will be stolen.

Strengths: From a young age Ash was educated about herbs and natural materials, the Yaephra are a minimalistic race and very naturalistic, relying solely on what nature provided. This makes her very resourceful when in the wilderness and able to create herbal remedies when needed. Also, all Yaephra are born with a heightened sense of smell which helps Ash with identifying herbs and such. And as her home planet Denyali was covered mostly with ocean and a few islands covered in dense jungle, Ash is an experienced climber and swimmer. One strength that Ash hates that she has is her in-depth knowledge of the black market, specifically about slave trading. This has provided her with the names of scum slave traders and other dangerous individuals in the black market.

Weaknesses: Ash's affinity for using herbs makes her very reluctant to use any modern medicine and become attached to materialistic objects or see their necessity. Also, from her time in the slave trade Ash is reluctant to rely on anyone and does not trust anyone she comes across. She learnt that the hard way. Since being taken away from her home planet she has travelled alone, never staying too long in one place, which has made her shut off from others. And lastly, she suffers from claustrophobia.

Background/Personality: Ash was born and raised in the planet Denyali, a small peaceful planet mostly covered by ocean and islands of dense jungle. The Yaephra species age at a much slower rate than others. When she was 35 years old (appearance of a human 7 year old), Ash's planet was invaded by slave traders. They kidnapped many of them and some were killed as they tried to escape. Once captured and transported to a holding place Ash was branded at her wrist with her slave traders unique mark. She then spent nearly 50 years being traded and abused again and again. This caused Ash to become disconnected go those around her and ensured that she would not trust or depend on anyone, other than herself. After years of this horrendous lifestyle, Ash learnt to play the game and wait for the right moment to escape. And when her opportunity arrived, she snatched it with both hands and ran.

For the last couple of years Ash has been bouncing from place to place, never staying in one place for too long. And although she tries to avoid interacting with people as much as possible, she has not become completely hardened to those around her. She is very intend to those suffering at the hands of others. She's sometimes done a few "Robin Hood" deeds for those in need of someone's help. Ash has seen the evil in people across the universe and despises those who use their power to abuse others. She has seen others trying to do good like her, she's seen them from the shadows of her hideouts. At times she can imagine what it's like to have a group to belong to, but getting attached in any capacity is dangerous. But even Ash is not immune to answering a call for help from Princess Leia. However, this will be a one time deal, get in, get the job done and be gone. It will a chance to atone for the things she's done over the years.

Character Creation Empty Re: Character Creation

Post by Kor'la Dal'yth Y'eldi Mon Jan 27, 2020 7:30 pm

Name: Kor'la Dal'yth Y'eldi

Age: 41

Gender: Male

Species: Air caste Tau

Homeworld: Dal'yth, Outer Rim

Allegiance: Bounty Hunters' Guild

Physical description and attire: 7' 6'' Resistant light black fabric over-all and armor with nanocrystalline metal veneer protecting vital organs.

Equipment/weapons: Blaster pistol but also owns a long-range rail rifle with a custom tripod.

Strengths: Born and trained to be a pilot.

Weaknesses: Has very little strength and brittle bones.

Character overview - personality and brief backstory: Though people sometimes call him Kor'la, this sounds rather condescending to him. He goes by the name Y'eldi which reflects how talented he is at flying ships. He was born in the cosmopolitan world of Dal'yth, where he trained as pilot. His brilliant career got him to lead massive convoys of supplies for the Empire. But the Empire ordered the assassination of most of his friends through the paranoia of rebels. Added to the degradation of conditions on Dal'yth, this motivated Y'eldi to covertly help the Rebellion using his position of power. With the fall of the Empire, he found work with the Mantis Syndicate of the Bounty Hunters Guild, organising air blockades to root out gangs.
Y'eldi is a sharp, calculating person. He appears to only be interested in money, but actually accepts jobs out of boredom and loneliness.

Character Creation Empty Re: Character Creation

Post by ThirdRaven Mon Jan 27, 2020 10:16 pm

Name: Vangar

Age: 28

Gender: Male

Species: Barabel

Homeworld: Barab I

Allegiance, if any (e.g. Jedi, Bounty Hunters' Guild): Various Crime Syndicates and interplanetary corporations

Physical description and attire:
Standing at 213cm Vangar is tall, even for a Barabel. Where most of his species are powerfully built however he is slight and wiry. Dark charcoal grey scales mottled with black swirls and spines cover his body and thin whiplike tail, and amber eyes peer out from under thick ridge like brows. Several miniature pieces of tech are fused to-and sometimes under-his scales, cybernetic enhancements that distinguish him among his generally technophobic species. Vangar has a penchant for clothes and accessories which dangle, jingle or swish in the wind. Consequently he dresses in layered robes and sashes of dark reds and purples, adorned with many chains, beaded charms, and jewellery. When ‘on the job’ these extravagant garments are reigned in with leather buckles and bandoliers of many pouches. Though he has little need for armour or protection thanks to the thick scaly hide of his people he wears sturdy thigh high boots, gauntlets, and a sweeping cloak fashioned from the pale grey leather of some exotic species hunted in the jungles of Barab I.

Equipment/weapons:
Claws/Teeth-retractable and razor sharp, used by the Barabels as both weapon and tool.
Ceremonial Fighting Knives-A pair of double bladed jagged knives with handles of bone, used in many Barabel customs from mating ritual to midwinter festival combat sports.
Various Multipurpose Tools-From sonic lock pick to thermal detonator defuser, somewhere in his pouches or robes Vangar has probably stashed away the right tool for the moment. Some are valuable black market acquisitions and others are one of a kind, crafted by Vangar himself.

Strengths:
Vangars greatest asset is his mind. Unlike most of his kind he does not shun technology but rather embraces it, and (through many years of disassembling any and all machines he could get his hands on in the backwaters of Barab I) Vangar has become a prodigy of the technological. Hyperdrives, blasters, droids or speeders, if it has circuitry running through it, Vangar will be able to use, misuse, repair or repurpose.

All Barabel are natural born hunters, and though puny by his own species standards Vangar still possesses the night vision, keen senses and fighting skill of his kin.

The thick scales of a Barabel protect them from extremes of temperature, physical harm and render them immune to stun blasters.

Having lived most of his life in the outer rim Vangar is at home among the plots, corruption and shady characters on the edge of space.

Weaknesses:
Like all Barabel Vangar experiences emotions intensely, quick to laugh and quicker to anger. The native dialect of his home world has no equivalent of an apology, for wrongdoing or in sympathy, and they are not understood or used by his kind. These traits lead most to assume that he (like all his species) is callous, hot headed and perpetually on the brink of a rage filled violent outburst. Most fear-or at least do not trust-the Barabel almost immediately, and few stay long enough to have their opinions changed.

Vangar has a distinctive appearance-and an imposing physical presence-and can rarely blend into a crowd unnoticed. When coupled with the handful of bounties on his head at any given time-thanks to his work-this leads to an endless parade of unwanted attention and complications.

Character overview - personality and brief backstory:

Long ago the Jedi visited Barab I, to prevent a great civil war among the native Barabels. Owing to the primitive nature of life on Barab I and the impressive technology of the Jedi the reptilian species began to worship them as gods. Many lifetimes later and Barab I has joined the galaxy proper. The Barabels are still either disdainful or outright distrustful of technology however, and a single modest spaceport city services the entire planet.

For one runtling Barabel this species wide relationship with technology did not sit well. Ostracised from his broodmates due to his feeble nature Vangar spent his youth rummaging the scrapheaps and junkyards of his planets only contact with the outside galaxy. While others practiced ritual combat or embarked on hunting expeditions into the jungle Vangar spent his formative years disassembling ion couplings and repairing discarded comms units.

He lived a life of solitude and derision until one day a mysterious offworld stranger saw Vangar tinkering with a gonk droid in the mud. Seeing the young Barabels gifts for what they were, and offering him the life of adventure among the stars he had always dreamed of, the stranger spirited Vangar away on his ship. It was only once they were many light years from the young Barabels home planet the stranger revealed to Vangar his true nature and identity. Vangar had taken up with a scoundrel and a smuggler, wanted by both the empire and the Hutt crime family. From here his downward spiral into the seedy underbelly of galactic crime was all but inevitable.

For many years the Barabel, the smuggler and his ragtag crew bounced around the galaxy from one nefarious enterprise to the next. A daring heist one day, an illicit cargo run the next, vangar learnt much in his time aboard the smugglers junk heap of a ship. All good things must come to an end however, and with the empires net closing in about them the crew decided it was time they should each strike out on their own.

Vangar, now in his early 20s and alone again for the first time since he had so hastily abandoned his home world, set out to make a living and a name for himself the only way he knew how. He started small, revisiting contacts he had made in his time with the smuggler, and found work where he could; a code breaking here, an illegal ship modification there, and word quickly spread. In the six years since his criminal career began in earnest Vangar has become a household name in crime dens across the outer rim. If an uncrackable safe is found lying empty on Corellia or a spice runners ship disappears under the nose of an imperial blockade, somewhere in the shadows Vangar can probably be be found flipping a mag wrench and pocketing a stack of unmarked credits.
